Product Details

Here’s a great opportunity to own a Selmer Radial 2°—one of Selmer’s most unique and forward-thinking trumpet designs. Manufactured in France around 1969–1970, this horn reflects a significant departure from traditional valve alignment and ergonomic design. Developed with the input of legendary trumpeter Maurice André, the Radial 2° features valves that are set at a slight angle to match the natural motion of the player’s fingers. The result is an intuitive, relaxed feel that supports fluid, efficient technique.

Selmer’s original ad (included in the listing) highlights the Radial’s rich tonal core and unmatched intonation. This horn lives up to that promise, with a warm, focused sound that responds beautifully across all registers. The signature Selmer bracing and distinctive water key engravings are present, as is the clean “Henri Selmer Paris” bell engraving with “Made in France” and the trademark (®) symbol clearly stamped.

This particular example is in excellent condition:

🎺 Lacquer is nearly 100% intact with only minor cosmetic wear

🎺 Pistons show no plating loss and have excellent compression

🎺 All slides are free and smooth

🎺 Includes the original case with the rare embroidered Radial 2° patch—a detail I’ve personally never seen

🎺 It has been thoroughly cleaned and has new corks and felts.

This trumpet is ready to play!

There are two small areas of red rot visible in the leadpipe. They are cosmetic only—there are no pinholes or leaks. If the leadpipe is kept clean and dry after playing these spots will not pose any issue for many years.

I can’t find another Radial 2° for sale right now. It’s an excellent playing horn with great history, ready for its next home.
